"The one with the greatest blessing of all..."

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous; it is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body."
- Elizabeth Stone
The past 6-weeks have been a blur; a roller-coaster ride of screams and tantrums,  yawns and constant headaches, amazement and excitement, adoration and love, devotion and emotions.   Between all the whims, tears and cries, nappy-changing moments, sleep deprived nights, the constant worrying and parenting-coping mechanism; I have never adorned a sense of fulfillment and accolade greater from being a parent. The adage stands true, that a child favors a parents' presence more than their presents.

I have always thought that parenthood is something you prepare for - only to realize that parenthood prepares you, instead.

It is not something one would candidly nor impulsively jump into; but once ventured upon, becomes instinctively life-changing. I cannot emphasize the notion 'life-changing' strong enough in words, for the feeling and sensation parenthood brings extend further beyond mere words and vocabulary. Simply because the love you feel for your newborn is, in itself, indescribable; it is a sensation and feeling that originates from within the warmest facades of your own self - the heart.

In between the intense cringes and cries  - comes moments that make you feel grateful to be alive, moments that humbles you down to your core.

In between the intense struggle and stress, comes moments like these;

Nur Ain Umairah - Day 3

"Lady boss" - Day 17

"Huh, what?" - Day 29

I feel that parenting is the most rewarding experience one can achieve in life. To be accountable for another life, to be responsible for one's upbringing. It carries with it great weight, but also the highest form of nobility. Welcome to the world, our darling Nur Ain Umairah - today marks your 6th week with us, may we be able to share hundreds, even thousands more to come insyaAllah.

I also pray that we will be the parents you deserve, to shower you the upbringing that is righteous for you, for a life that is rightful of you. And in between doing that all - share with you plenty of tight hugs and warm kisses.

"They (babies) may forget what you say (when they are young), but they will never forget how you made them feel."
-Carol Buchner
We love you more with every passing day darling.

My dearest son,

You and Fifah have embraced parenthood very well. For amateurs, I give you two a score of 8/10. It is also wonderful that you could be by Fifah's side throughout her confinement period, to share among the thoughest period of bringing up a child. I pray that Allah continues to watch over the three of you, allowing you to enjoy your beautiful Ayra.

Alas, many more challenges lie ahead, but nothing that you cannot handle because you know that, besides each other, you two have families that you can always rely on.

p/s: Someone once told me "The love one feels for a grandchild supersedes the love for one's own child"...I concur with this now that we have Ayra - Mama.
